How is it to experience the power of Gratitude.
Gratitude is the willingness to appreciate the good things in a person’s life and the act to pay the kindness of others. It is the sense of wonder, thankfulness, and appreciation. It helps a person to get to know the goodness in life that leads to a positive relationship. It also proves Newton’s law that “Action and reaction are always equal in magnitude.”
“Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your Gratitude.”
― Ralph Waldo Emerson
The most straightforward way to repay the people who are contributing to your success or character building in any form is to show them appreciation. Now, the question is How to show Gratitude and repay the kindness. Well, for that you don’t have to wait for a special occasion or prepare an expensive or marvelous gift. You can do it with a single word that is “THANK YOU”, or can make a meal if it is for a family member, prepare a simple event or write a designed letter by yourself. That is an excellent power of feeling you get after this act of Gratitude. I have experienced this feeling and going to share it with you.
“…adults who feel grateful have more energy, more optimism, more social connections, and more happiness than those who do not, according to studies conducted over the past decade. They’re also less likely to be depressed, envious, greedy, or alcoholics.”
– Melinda Beck
People I’m Thankful to
If I make a list of people whom I’m thankful and want to show my Gratitude, then the file will be overly crowded. Every person in my life whom I get to spend some time in my life has contributed to my character building, personality improving, and journey to my success. I am the type of person who gets easily amused but in a positive way. I would get an impact on the positive characteristics of the personalities in my life. Like if I have a chance to interact with you more for a longer time and you have positive values that are amusing to me, no matter it is a moral value, your dressing style, the way you speak, the way you interact with people, It would get a mark on me, and I’ll accept it. I don’t care if there are some copyright issues, you can sue me if you want(lol). So, there is a long list of people whom I’m grateful to, but for a start, I have chosen three persons and wrote them letters of appreciation as an overdue gift.
The very first person who comes to mind when I talk about the appreciation, impact, or purpose of my efforts is my mother. No doubt, Mother is the most significant figure in every person’s life. She gives birth to us, raises us, and would make us the personalities that we are right at the moment. But my mother has faced the way more challenges in her life for our sake. She had played the role of our mother and father at the same for almost six years when our father was not home. Even now, she is struggling non-stop despite her health just for making our future better.
So, I designed wrote her a letter and gave her yesterday. She got a little emotional by reading it and hugged me. I felt very relieved and inner peace at the thought that I have paid a low back to her efforts.
To my respected Teacher!
There was a teacher JA in our department at university with we interacted just in the examination hall a few times. That interaction was not that appreciable, and we had biased reviews about her personality. At the start of the last semester of Bs we got our class schedule and found that she is going to teach us “Laser Physics”. We were feeling very unfair. Then there was a plot twist on the very first lecture she delivered to us. That was not because she was very friendly to us, nor she promised us to give good grades. It was all because she gave us the lesson we couldn’t get during sixteen years of our education in just one lecture. That lesson made us view life from a different perspective and then during the whole semester, she would spend 15 minutes from the one and half hour of lecture to give us some useful advice or motivational talk. She is one of the most influential persons in my life. She is the person I wish I should have met earlier.
I wrote a letter and sent it to her but haven’t received her response yet. But I can feel a sense of satisfaction after sending it. I hope she can feel the sincerity of my words.
To a dearest Friend!
M is a friend I met in my second semester at university, and now she is my best friend. We are always thankful to our friends for very things even they are trivial. She is one of the friends who has influenced me in a very positive manner. She is that particular friend who has given the most positive impacts on my thoughts and personality.
I envied her in many aspects, whether it is her honest and persistent personality, her habit of helping others, or her moral values. The first thing that I used to get surprised and impressed is her habit of picking up the ballpoint pens from the ground to place them in a higher place. At first, I was confused about why she does that, but then I was stunned by knowing the reason behind it. The purpose was to honor the pens as they help us to get knowledge just like we do acknowledge our books. That was a new thing for me. I have picked that habit from her as well as many others.
I sent her a letter as well. After reading the message, she was very joyful that I wrote to her and designed it my self. Also, she was wondering that I notice such trivial things about her. Besides, I got to know that she wanted to be my friend from the very start and finally got the chance.
“Our days rarely go according to plan or without unexpected challenges. Some of us can naturally appreciate the sweet moments as they happen throughout the day, while many of us need to cultivate this sense of appreciation.”
-Dr. Randy Kamen.
The feeling of satisfaction and inner peace that I got from this experience is unmatched. It was like I have paid my due. And repaying what you have received is another level of happiness. I have made a list and send this overdue gift of appreciation to every person who has left positive and significant impacts on my life.
So, when are you going to experience it? Get your list ready…
